Spin-off: Four Demonly Kings
Mission canon(s): Vocaloid
Part 5 of: Photo Contest arc
After falling through a suddenly appearing plot hole in the previous mission, the Demonly Kings face an ominous figure.
The fic, titled "Invisible Teardrops", belongs to angelastoker and they're welcome to keep or do anything they want with it, though preferably in a correct hosting space and category.
From the plot hole, the agents and the three newly spawned Hachune along with a sizeable mound of perfumed snow were gracelessly deposited upon an unknown, undefinable place covered in yet more snow. It was coloured the same kind of eye-searing garish rainbow as the snow that fell on their heads two missions ago, yet drenched in a perfume scent thicker than the snow they'd just weathered.
Urato cursed upon feeling something hard buried in the snow, under his backside. Soon he found it was an empty bottle of glass, crafted to seem like a jewel. As the agents crawled back on their feet, they saw many such ghastly oddments littered all around: empty bottles, hollow lipstick tubes, powder palettes with all their compartments gouged out. One surprise lead to another: the agents discovered that upon each of the objects was the flowery O symbol of Otomeshiya, stamped in the shiniest silver.
"How unexpected to see you foolish humans here."
Came a familiar voice from behind the group. They turned around and beheld a round, white rabbit with a devilish gleam in his blue eyes. Instantly Kaguya lunged forward and grabbed the rabbit, shouting unparseable bloody murder at the creature.
"Kid, I can't understand a single word you're saying," Arare said, the devious look on his face having vanished. "Calm down, will you? Are you trying to detonate my face?"
"He says he's sure you're sabotaging our missions on purpose," Momoka dutifully stepped in to translate. "He wants you to leave us alone, and frankly, so do I."
"You humans are foolish as always," said Arare after Kaguya disgustedly dropped him to the snow-cloaked ground. "What is there for me to gain from solely targeting you? Whatever happened to you was never my intention, nor my concern. I'm simply preparing my entry for Otomeshiya's photo contest."
The Demonly Kings could offer no reaction beyond speechlessly staring at him. He continued, "The leader of the Seven Wonders told me I could be accepted if I win the contest. To have my face on a magazine cover and be known and feared by the entire PPC, how can I not take the chance? She directed me into the environment of this badfic; it's got a Japanese setting that I'd be used to, she said. I've made ample use of Otomeshiya wares to prepare the perfect scene, but so far I've yet to achieve any satisfactory result."
Arare summoned a mass of snow, then threw at it a brand new palette of blush. The cloud of powder coated the snow in colours, while the glossy black casing snapped in two and fell to the ground. Kaguya saw red, but before he could throw a punch at Arare, the colourful snowball tumbled through a suddenly appearing plot hole right before his eyes.
"That snowball," said Momoka shockedly, "where did it go?"
"That's happened several times now," said Arare. "The makeup's ingredients must have combined with my spiritual energy and affected the fabric of the fic. That however isn't cause for concern; now I must proceed…"
Before he was done talking, Kaguya threw at him a coloured snowball with enough force to knock him several steps backwards. Face sharply aching and stained, he barked, "Kid, what was that for?"
"Yo rabbit, I think dis fic's world ain't as Japanese as ya think it is," Urato interrupted the exchange as a CAD went up in smoke in his hand. "C'mon, hava look."
"The Words say this is supposed to be a Vocaloid fic," said Inasuke. "What's going on?"
Slightly further from the snowed ground under the group's feet, the badfic unfolded. The scenery took the form of a generic American suburban household: a grey brick house with a garage, a carefully trimmed lawn, a pristinely white mail box. Amidst that peaceful scenery frolicked characters that bore not one shred of resemblance to any Vocaloid voicebank.
Amy was sitting on her swingset when she saw Michael walk by hand in hind with his girlfriend Melanie. "Hey what are you doing tomorrow night?" Michael has asked her two days ago while he was walking her home from school."Oh, nothing. I was thinking about going to the homecoming game with some girl friends, why?" she had replied to the mysterious question. "Oh, just wondering. I'm spendind it with Melanie. I'll see you around", he had said as they reached Amy's house. 'He will never notice me' she thought to herself as the couple disappeared from view.
"Amy! Come inside and do your homework, then wash up for dinner," called her mother from the open kitchen window. "Coming! Be right there!" she called as she grabbed her backpack from underneath the big spruce tree and ran inside. As she sat down at her desk to write the outline for her enlish essay, her cellphone rang from across the room on her bed. She threw herself onto her bed to grab the phone then walked back to her desk and answered it. "Hello? Amy Sherwood here," she said into the reciever. She smiled when she heard Michael's voice.
"This… this can't be! She lied to me?" Arare cried seconds before he was hit by a heart-eyed emoji from the Demonly Kings' previous mission. This seemed to prove more than enough for him to bear; he turned to face Kaguya, who was already preparing another snowball. "Ya want a snowball fight, kid? You think you can win against a yukinbo? It's a duel, then!"
Momoka was powerless to stop the onslaught of colourful, perfumed snowballs her master and the snow rabbit were barraging at one another. It was a chaos of vivid pigment and overpowering scents, of much stumbling and knocking one another over and falling face-first into the snow. Yet suddenly, an idea occurred to Momoka, and so she produced her smartphone.
A moment later, the ground started quaking, and a gaping crack formed, swallowing all present. The agents, the minis, the badfic character Amy and her mother all landed buried under cosmetics-soaked snow. As they crawled up to the surface and looked around, they soon were taken by shock at the familiar surroundings.
This was the dining room in the Demonly Kings' previous fic. Kagamine Rin and Len were yet unconscious by the snow-covered dining table, and the badfic ghosts possessing them yet floated in place in the air, still not charged or exorcised.
Without wasting a second, Inasuke announced, "We're from the Protectors of the Plot Continuum. First, the badfic ghosts from the Rin and Len fic, you are convicted of creating a boring and disjointed narrative; bad copyediting, leading to nonsensical scenes like eating bobbleheads; using the dollar in Japan; and creating minis. Second, Amy and your mother, you're convicted of false advertising, namely by labelling a completely original inane story as a Vocaloid fanfic; and all-around bad storytelling and editing. All of you are sentenced to death."
Urato portalled Amy and her mother to above a random volcano, while Inasuke dissipated the ghosts by throwing two snowballs at them. Momoka, carrying Kaguya on her shoulders, excitedly said, "Let's go home; Kaguya-sama's contest entry is ready."
